TEM FOUNDATION NPO
About the Foundation
Founded by Ms Thembi E. Mawelele, Corporate Attorney and Founder of TEM Attorneys, the TEM Foundation NPO is the dedicated social impact arm of the firm.
Established to extend world-class legal expertise beyond corporate boardrooms into communities across South Africa and abroad, we bridge the gap between legal knowledge and everyday opportunity. We believe that access to legal and business understanding is fundamental to dignity, growth, and sustainable development.
Our objective is simple yet profound: transforming lives and empowering communities through education, entrepreneurship, and justice.
Our Mission
Our mission is to extend legal expertise beyond the boardroom — transforming lives and empowering communities across South Africa and abroad through education, entrepreneurship, and access to justice.
Our Program Pillars
Three focused initiatives designed to create lasting, measurable impact where it matters most.
Entrepreneurship Development
Equipping aspiring entrepreneurs, SMEs, youth and women with practical tools for business structuring, compliance, financial literacy, and mentorship to build sustainable, job-creating enterprises.
Governance Education
Providing targeted training for NPOs, schools, traditional councils, and community boards on ethics, accountability, the Companies Act, and King IV principles to strengthen leadership and ensure sustainability.
Social Justice Advocacy Initiatives
Hosting pro bono legal clinics, driving human rights awareness campaigns, and advocating for access to justice for vulnerable groups who need it most.
Why It Matters
At TEM Attorneys, we see daily how proper legal structuring protects businesses. The Foundation brings that same corporate expertise to communities.
- Knowledge Translation: We simplify complex legal frameworks into accessible community workshops
- Stronger Institutions: Better-governed NPOs and schools attract funding and deliver greater impact
- Economic Growth: Formalized SMEs create jobs and stimulate local economies in Mpumalanga and beyond
- Justice Gap: Pro bono clinics protect the rights of women, youth, and marginalized groups
- Ethical Leadership: Building a culture of compliance and accountability from the ground up
Founder's Note
The law is more than statutes and contracts — it is a tool for dignity, protection, and opportunity. The TEM Foundation exists to ensure that the same legal excellence that serves our corporate clients also uplifts our communities.
